Works of Temporary Structures and Infrastructures on TGP

[Abstract] The works of temporary structures and infrastructures alleged as "common works" on the Three Gorges Project (TGP) include the aggregate supply systems, construction power supply system, construction water supply system,construction and management of construction access and roads, office buildings and camps, storage facilities and landscaping. The works were constructed by competitive bidding syslem, and the operation and management were entrusted to constructors by the owner of the TGP in order to build, operate and manage more effciently the temporary structures and infrastructures and serve well the construction of the main works under contracts, and finally to ensure the successful completion of the construction of the TGP.

Planning, Construction and Management of Aggregate Systems

[Abstract] The aggregate supply systems for the Three Gorges Project(TGP) must meet the requirements for concrete works with such features as huge volume, high placement rate and long construction duration.Because parties concerned have devoted a great deal of effort to the systems during the 7-year period, the systems basically can satisfy the construction demands in quantity and quality, and has been affirmed by The expert group to qualityinspection of the TGP. The following conclusions can be drawn from the work for recent several years: scientific planning and elaborate design are a prerequisite; choosing a qualified and powerful general contractor is fundament; advanced production equipment is a guarantee; scientific management of the owner has a decisive effectand the joint effort by all parties concerned with construction of the project is a fundamental guarantee.

Communication for TGP Construction

[Abstract] The communication work for the construction of the Three Gorges Project(TGP) is an integrated works including wired, wireless and movable communication, the quality of which can have significantly impacton the construction of the TGP. In the communication works to date the communication systems have been formed such as digital programme-controlled switchboard with 7OOO telephones, 480 circuits digital microwave system,155 Mb/s optical fiber system, 800MHz groups dispatch communication, multi-address microwave communication, power line carrier communication and closed-circuit TV system, as an independent construction communication network incorporating digital exchange, digital transmission and computer techniques and as a framework for future permanent telecommunication for the TGP.

Selection of Crushing & Screening Equipment for Xia'anxi Crushing System

[Abstract] The crushing and screening equipment is the major devices for the production of aggregates in thesystem of aggregate production. The selection of the crushing and screening equipment for the Xia'anxi system was determined at the competitive bidding, construction design and capacity expanding stages. It can be believed that the production operation for several years has proved that the selected equipment for the system generally is successful, and basically comes up to the standards in terms of advanced technology, reliable operation and economic advisability.

Gushuling Crushing System and Its Production Capacity

Oversize Water Supply Ship Serves Construction of TGP

[Abstract] It's an innovation for the Three Gorges Project (TGP) to apply an oversize water supply ship to the hydro sector of construction industry. Not only offsets it the waste on investment arising from the overlappingly building the large size stationary water supply works to satisfy the demands for river diversion in stages, but it can reduce the operation costs, which is considered as an optimum water supply way. It would be practically potential value if the ship can stay within a stable water region or in a good position of moorage.

Information System for Works of Temporary Structures and Infrastructures

[Abstract] The information about the operation of water supply, power supply and aggregate systems during the construction of the Three Gorges Project (TGP) is acquired and processed mainly by the Information System for Temporary Structures & Infrastructures (ISTSI) on the TGP site, and provided timely and widely to the customers , managers and decision-makels. The information system, based on web technique, Active technique and ORACLE data base, etc. , confirms to the design requirements and development direction of the modern information management technology, and can meet the needs for acquiring, issuing and browsing over the information about the operation of the temporary works and infrastructures.
